The sensation was one of enormous relief. Pleased, suddenly freed from his hatred, he felt the initial stirrings of his passions. He pulled the woman to him and covered her mouth with his, his hands hungrily searching the firmness of her warm body. She clung to him, then pushed him away.
"I must resist until you know everything. Only then will I know if I have pleased you."
"What do you mean?"
"There can be no settlement until you know everything. Are you not curious about your brother?"
"I was there. I know what happened. He was murdered, and someone put his body in my father's grave. In this case, I know for certain that all this supernatural mumbo jumbo of yours had nothing to do with it."
Jubell's lovely face softened. "Are you so certain, my lover?"
Charlie studied the woman at length before answering. "No," he finally admitted, "I'm not certain. I'm no longer certain about anything."
Jubell stepped forward again, this time reaching out for his hand. She entwined her fingers in his and tenderly led him down the long, shadowed hall into the bedroom. With one hand she caressed his aching body, with the other she easily manipulated his clothing. She was breathing heavily in anticipation. But
